We may be on vacation but....

we should not take a vacation from Jesus--He is Always with Us!

“But my child has already made his/her First Holy Communion!”

How does one respond to a statement such as this. It is heard many times when asked; “Are you going to register this year for Religious Education?”
Our faith life does not end with receiving the sacrament of Holy Eucharist, nor after we are confirmed. Receiving First Holy Communion must mean that there is
going to be a second, a third and so on for the rest of one’s life.

Parents, it is necessary to continue to give our children instruction about God, Jesus, the sacraments, the Mass, prayer, the church and the many teachings of our faith. If we are to live our faith and follow Jesus, we must learn more, so we can love more. The more we know about a friend, the more we love that friend. Our children need Jesus to be their friend and to learn more about Him.

During the summer when the religion classes are over, we can still be learning about God and our church by attending Mass. Our Lord comes to us as we gather
together to celebrate the Mass. He comes to us in the Word, the stories that are read to us. He comes to us in the bread and the wine in a special way. He stays with us as we are sent to bring the word of God to others as the priest has shown us by his homily, what it is that the readings are asking us to do to serve God and our neighbor. The Mass is the most perfect public worship we have. It has all the types of prayer; petition, praise, thanksgiving, and blessing.

There is strength and sharing when we worship at the Mass with our community. Let’s always put Sunday Mass on our calendars for things we must do.

We will be registering for Religious Education the last two week ends of August. Please mark you calendars — August 21 & 22 and August 28 & 29 after all of the
weekend Masses.

Please call Teresa at 297-7271 ext. 203 if you would like information about our Religious Education programs.
