Liturgy is the work of the people. Active participation is the key phase in the celebration of the Eucharist, the Mass. The ministries that make our mass bring praise, thanksgiving, and glory to God, or Father, are many. Eucharistic ministers, lectors, ushers, sacristans, altar servers, linen persons, people to clean holy water fonts, choir members, greeters, gift bearers and many other "picking up", "straightening", and cleaning jobs. All these ministries are necessary. We can always use new helpers In responding to do one of these tasks, we are carrying out our baptism, our call to discipleship. If you would like to be part of this "active participation" in the Liturgy, please call the office at 297-7271.

We have a need for two or three volunteers to work with us at La Canada Care Center on Fridays. We’re there from about 9:30 am to 11:00 am. Three Fridays a month we have Mass, and when a priest is not available we have a Communion Service. What we do, is bring the residents from their rooms to the dining room where Mass is held.
Do you feel a need to follow Jesus? He fed the poor,
cured the sick and spent much of his time with people
that others despised. We need people that are willing to
take time out of their busy lives to help those in need.
Our St. Vincent de Paul society has dwindled to just a few
people, and we are in desperate need of some new
blood. Deacon George and I have worked for St. Vincent
de Paul for close to forty years, and we feel that it is time
for us to step back and let a new generation take over.
All that is required is a willingness to meet with needy
people and help them in whatever way we can. Training
will be provided, we won’t ask you jump in unprepared.
Being familiar with Excel spreadsheets would be a big
bonus, as that is how we keep our records If you are
interested, call the parish office and let them know that
you would be willing to help.
Sincerely,
Pamela Scherf,
President of the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Odilia
